In an impressive display of heart and hustle, Hollenbeck (HOBK) LAPD’s young basketball stars have made their mark! Under the strong leadership of Officer Andy Camacho – who doubles as both a dedicated police officer and an inspirational basketball coach – the HOBK Cadet Basketball team claimed a well-deserved bronze medal in this year’s championship playoffs at the LA Police Academy. Going head-to-head with eight other LAPD Division teams this October, our HOBK warriors proved they could hang with the best. “HOBK Cadets taking the bronze this year was a great finish, given the other Divisions’ Cadets’ basketball playing talent,” Coach Camacho stated with pride.
But the season packed even more excitement than just the playoffs! These young athletes got the thrill of a lifetime when a group of NBA legends stepped onto their court to kick off the season with an unforgettable skills clinic. Adding to the magic, thanks to the generous hearts at Giving Children Hope in Buena Park, each player walked away with a pair of Nike basketball shoes – talk about stepping up their game in style!
Coach Camacho couldn’t be prouder of his bronze-winning squad, and he’s sending a massive shoutout to Hollenbeck PAL for backing these champions every step of the way. Now, that’s what we call teamwork: making the dream work!
