Three ladies in blue shared their stories at the Dear Future Los Angeles 2019 Speaker Series hosted by the LA Conservation Corps and presented Coca-Cola. The three, Assistant Chief Beatriz Girmala, Deputy Chief Regina Scott, and Commander Ruby Flores, each shared their journey, from why they joined the LAPD to the challenges and obstacles they faced along the way to get to where they are now.

The goal of the speaker series is to engage and expose young women the endless possibilities of careers and professions in the public sector. With some words of advice and tons of humor, the three let their guard down and shared personal details of their tough childhoods, challenging encounters with Law Enforcement as kids, and the ingenuity that it took to balance motherhood and their busy careers.

As their colleagues gave them a standing ovation at the end of this inspiring panel, the young people in the audience walked away feeling like they knew these ladies in blue. For their bravery to be vulnerable in a room full of strangers, for their advocacy for equality in the department, and for inspiring women all over the city, LAPD Hollenbeck PAL thanks each one of them for their dedication and commitment.
