Maria Martinez facilitates the Get It Straight (GIS) Parent Project and co-facilitates the GIS program.  Maria retired from the Los Angeles Police Department in May, 2018 after dedicating her career to working at LAPD’s Juvenile Division, Abused Child Unit, investigating child abuse.  Maria was a Parent Awareness Program Facilitator for “at risk” youth in the Hollenbeck Area, prior to the inception of GIS, where she worked with families in the awareness of drug abuse, gang involvement, and the prevention of violence.
