2018 Gala – Hollenbeck PAL’s 12th Annual Awards Gala on May 17, 2018, held at the beautiful Taglyan Cultural Complex, was an amazing night highlighting community service.  As the Gala’s theme proclaimed, “TO PROTECT, SERVE & HEAL,” the night was owned by the 2018 honorees’ service to our communities.  Their amazing contributions to our City left everyone captivated.  This year’s honorees were: The Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work; William and Elizabeth Shatner; and Fausto Zapata, founder of Mezcal El Silencio; and the 2018 youth of the year, Juan Carlos “JC” Cordoba.

The evening was co-emceed by KNBC anchor Kathy Vara and Telemundo 52 Reporter Azalea Iñiguez.  The Gala was attended by a powerhouse crowd of nearly 400 corporate and civic leaders, philanthropists, law enforcement personnel, and LAPD command staff.  This year’s keynote speaker, Assemblyman Miguel Santiago, Assembly District 53, among other inspiring words, reminded us of the importance of giving back to our communities and positively influencing young lives. The 2018 Gala raised $227,236 to support HPAL’s mission of helping youngsters create a path toward a successful future.
